This food is famous among the Filipinos especially when a man shouting/yelling a familiar term with a high and low note coming from outside. Moreover, we and mostly the kids love to mimic what the man shouting. We usually eat this in the morning and sometimes serve as our breakfast.  Yeah, I’m talking about the famous TAHO (tahoooooooo, tahooooooo!).

The vendor or also known from the name “Manong” brings two aluminum drum or container. The big one contains Taho (the white one), it is made from squeezed (I don’t know the exact process to make a Taho) soya bean. The small container divided into two parts; for the Sago (tapioca balls) and for the Arnibal (the syrup for Taho to makes it sweet).

To prepare a delicious Taho, Manong will scoop the Taho itself; the volume of the Taho will be scoop is depend to how much the customer pays. After that, Manong will add the Sago and the Arnibal that is sufficient to the volume of Taho and he will mix the Taho gently. You can now eat your delicious Taho.

A funny fact connected to Taho. Kids are usually compared the container of Taho to the transformer that you may see in the posts because they have similar appearance and shape.

Nowadays, the variation of Taho booms. Some vendors puts some gimmick to their Taho, they blend some flavor to their Taho like Chocolate Taho, Strawberry Taho, Mango Taho, etc. Try our famous and delicious Taho with a cheap price ^_^.

Sinigang na Baboy


Sinigang na Baboy is a Filipino classic food which Filipinos and some foreigners likes it because of its sourness of soup came from Sampalok (Tamarind). This food is consist of pork, some traditional vegetables that use in this dish like okra (lady’s finger), talong (eggplant), sitaw (yard-long beans), kangkong (swamp spinach) & gabi (taro) and the special ingredient is the Sampalok the makes its soup sour, but some uses Kamias instead of Sampalok.
There are varieties of Sinigang depending on the ingredients they uses like Sinigang na Hipon, Sinigang sa Miso and etc. I realy like the sour soup of Sinigang especially in rainy days because my body temperature keeps hot when I drink its soup and my most favorite type of Sinigang is Sinigang na Hipon (shrimp instead of pork).

Banana-Q


It is a popular street food of Filipinos, it is a banana coated with sugar. It is an afternoon food and commonly called "Miryenda". This food is popular and called Bananaque (Banana-Q). It is a Banana (Saging in Filipino term) and Saging Saba is the most commonly used and perfect for making a Banana-Q. Saba will fry with brown sugar until it will caramelize and Saba will be coat by the caramelized brown sugar. Banana-Q is come from the famous food is in a stick and grilled, we called it Barbecue.

Others goes with Kamote-que that is coated with brown sugar just like with Banana-Q. You can taste the goodness of Banana-Q in a cheap price range from 5-20 pesos depending to the vendor selling Banana-Qs. I love eating Banana-Q and I prefer with lots of sugar in every banana. However, for those have diabetes and scared to have this, avoid or lessen the sugar that you will use for your Banana-Q, watch out for you health my dear. Let’s have some fun with the sweetness of Banana-Q.

Mangga and Bagoong


Hilaw (unripe) na Mangga is a truly Filipino food, you can find Mangga everywhere in the Philippines. However, if you want a Ripe or Sweet Mangga, you should go to Guimaras to experience the taste of a very sweet Mangga. 

The best partner of Hilaw na Mangga is Bagoong, I don't know what is the English term for this if it does exist :). Bagoong is truly a Philippine delecacy, it is fermented shrimp or sometimes fish. Some people prepare a spicy Bagoong and some are not, depending on the region in the Philippines

This is one of the favorite snack of the not only Filipinos but also the foreigners who are visiting the Philippines for a relaxing vacation. Mangga and Bagoong are just like husband and wife, they are the best partner. The sourness of Mangga is perfect to the saltiness of the Bagoong. However, dont worry, if you don't have a Bagoong, you can enjoy eating a Mangga dipping it in soy sauce (spicy or not) and simply a salt.

There is a funny thing about Mangga, you may experience drooling while seeing peeling the Mangga skin and Filipinos called it "naglalaway". Another thing, women that are pregnant usually wants to eat this kind of snack.

I love to eat Mangga dipping it in a spicy Bagoong. I love it very much. In addition, after eat up the Mangga, one thing I will do; look for more Mangga and eat again. Hahahah :D . This is a certified a Pinoy food. Enjoy eating.

Wotta! Kaldereta


  I am thinking many topics for my blog and it is difficult to choose what the best is. Suddenly I looked to my dinner and said, “Why not? I love foods and it is a good topic for a blog.”  Yeah, I am a food lover but it is not obvious because I am a skinny (laugh).

                This is one of my favorite Filipino dishes, Kaldereta. This dish came from Spanish word “caldereta” simply means stew. A Spanish-influenced dish became a favorite among Filipinos. I love this dish especially when it is a little bit spicy, the tender of the beef that is used and the sauce itself using a tomato sauce. Some cook their Kaldereta with chicken, pork and even fish and for the sauce; they use tomato sauce and sometime coconut milk. Kaldereta is a truly scrumptious dish that is served during fiestas, birthday parties, and other special occasions in the Philippines. It has many ingredients that contribute to the goodness of this dish but I am satisfied with beef, tomato sauce, potatoes, liver paste and I love making it spicy. I know you want this too, let’s eat.
